Alaska Presbytery Seeks Presbytery Administrator
Thursday, January 31, 2008 (67 reads)

The Presbytery of Alaska is currently seeking a Presbytery Administrator to provide administrative services and to facilitate and promote the mission of the Presbytery in communication and leadership with other governing bodies of the Presbyterian Church USA. The Administrator will function as head of office staff and will report to the personnel committee. The Administrator will report to meetings of the Presbytery.

Alaska Presbytery comprises the towns and villages of Southeast Alaska from Yakutat in the north to Metlakatla in the south. A large part of the membership is Native Alaskan of several tribes. Many of the churches are very small and several are without full-time pastoral care. Travel is expensive and challenging, with often unforgiving weather conditions in the winter months. The setting is in a rain forest with the Pacific Ocean as its western border, providing scenery and wildlife not seen elsewhere. While the work here is often described as missional, members do strive to be of service to people elsewhere. Travel and effective communication are probably the greatest challenges to administering this Presbytery.

Applications should be received by April 1, 2008 in order to receive full consideration in the initial screening; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

For more information, view the job posting on the
Synod of Alaska-Northwest website, or contact the Presbytery of Alaska office: Telephone: (907) 780-6100, Email: presby1@alaska.net.
